Don’t worry, we’ve not COMPLETELY lost the plot (or our calendar!)…
We know it’s not the 1st of January today.
But the New Year is only a few weeks away, and if your December is anything like ours – with all sorts of festivities, Christmas parties, and celebrations happening – it’s going to be here before we know it.
And when it comes to kicking off the New Year with a bang, we truly believe that the vast majority of people approach it in the wrong way.
Our advice? Start preparing today.
Think about it this way:
If you were training for a marathon, you wouldn’t start training the morning before you had to lace up your trainers and run 26 miles.
Or if you had a big presentation to give at work, you wouldn’t wait until an hour before to start working on your PowerPoint show.
Why treat your New Year goals any differently?
It’s estimated only 9-12% of people are successful in sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.
There are things we can do to increase our chances of succeeding, of course – like finding people to keep us accountable, and writing down our goals somewhere we’ll see them daily.
But we saw a quote recently that changed the way we think about it:
“If you’re waiting for when you’re “less busy” to start a new habit, it assumes that when you get busy again, you’ll stop.
If you want enduring change, the best time to start is when you’re busy. Learn how to make it work in the worst condition, and it’ll stick in the best.”
Maybe you’ve already been thinking about the changes you’d like to make on January 1st.
Whether it’s losing weight… or getting back in the gym… or finally doing something about the back pain that’s been bugging you for months now.
My question to you:
Why wait another month to get started, when you could get started now (and be a month further ahead)?
